Effects of Acupuncture on Tumer Bearing Repression induced by 3-Methylcholanthrene in Laboratory Animals

Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of acupuncture on tumor repression induced by 3-Methylcholanthrene and prostaglandin-F£Þ(2¥á) after acupuncture was administered by the regular method into the loci corresponding Hyo¢§lhae and Kokchi of the human body to mouse, optical observation of the tumor bearing mice, delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH), rosette forming cells (RFC) and natural killer cell activity (NKCA) was measured then compared with the control group.
The results were as follows:
1. The effects of acupuncture on tumor bearing mice of tumor production compared with the control group acupuncture group on kokchi (LI 11 )all showed fewer frequency while acupuncture group on Hyo¢§lhae (SP 10) did at the 8th week. However acupuncture group on blank locus showed fewer frequency of tumor production at the 4th week.
2. The effects of acupuncture on the average number of tumors per tumor bearing mice (TBM) only acupuncture group on kokchi (LI 11) all showed a remarkable significance when compared with the control group. However acupuncture group on Hyo¢§lhae (SP 10) and blank locus showed no significant difference as compared with the control group.
3. Size of tumor per T.B.M.-Both Hyolhae and Kokchi showed significant decrease at the 4th week, as compared with the control group.
4. Delayed type hypersensitivity was increased with statistical significance in Hyo¢§lhae and Kokchi loci as compared with the control group.
5. Rosette forming cell was increased with satistical significance in Hyo¢§lhae and Kokchi loci ad compared with the control group.
6. The effects of acupuncture on the natural kill cell activity in all laboratory groups there was a remarkable increase as compared with the control group.
According to the above results in is recognized that the stimulation of acupuncture on experimentally induced tumor bearing mice shows repressive effects variablely. As there was a eifference in each locus it is expected that this method can be used clinically, however it is believed that a deeper-study is necessary.
